This week, our director, Jessica Hasler, attended ATA19—the American Telemedicine Association’s annual conference. This year’s gathering took place in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center. If you’re not familiar with ATA19, it’s the biggest event in the telehealth industry, where healthcare professionals from all over gather to learn.
As defined by the Center for Connected Health Policy, telehealth is a collection of methods for enhancing healthcare, public health, and health education delivery and support using telecommunications. Telehealth encompasses a broad variety of technologies and tactics to deliver virtual medical, health, and education services. At ECC Technologies, we have divisions that operate in the broadband, education, and healthcare industries. Telemedicine technology has an increasing presence in each of those spaces.
Those who attended the convention got a closer look into how telehealth is expanding, the challenges that come with it, and how to implement current telehealth technology effectively. ECC’s main priority for ATA19 was to gain an understanding of emerging trends, new vendor solutions, and funding opportunities, along with hearing about best practices from other communities in the US and abroad. Technology is constantly changing, that’s why it’s important for everyone in the healthcare industry to stay current on the latest developments.
This year’s program had over 100 sessions including lectures, discussions, and hands-on discovery of new technology. There was a lot to learn. Jess got to hear about topics such as remote monitoring, Telehealth, and EMR integration, school telehealth, telehealth reimbursement, telemedicine in urgent care, telemedicine education, choosing the right technology, affordable patient solutions, telemedicine and the opioid crisis, rural-urban telehealth networks and leveraging telemedicine for disaster recovery. If any of these sound relevant to your organization, join us at next year’s ATA conference!
As experts in healthcare and technology, the RAPID Healthcare Solutions team is always keeping our ear to the ground to find out what’s next. The American Telemedicine Association is working to transform health and care through enhanced, efficient delivery—something we value deeply.
